While it seems like yesterday, there once was a time (nearly 6 years ago) when I didn’t have a logo or even a name. I just liked making bags. I knew I needed to somehow brand myself but had absolutely No idea what or how that process even started.
Being psychic (yes I’m psychic, and yes some of my bag designs come from Spirit, but more on that later). I knew Spirit would guide me. One day I realized I really liked my name. And of course I was “designing” bags so there you have it. Tori Anna Designs was born. But . . . . I still needed a logo. While I was grateful for finally coming up with a name for my business, I wanted some sort of logo or identification. My dad passed 10 years ago. He visits me as a dragonfly – and usually when I need a little support, that “you can Do this” nudge we all need from time to time. It’s always a large one with a black body and tan or grey wings.
During the summer I’m able to keep my windows and doors open. A dragonfly will fly into my house – land, sit and visit frequently. I absolutely love it. One day while taking a walk with a friend I was telling her that my dad came to me as a dragonfly. Just as I said it I looked on the ground and found a dead dragonfly – large, black with grey wings. I was stunned. I had never seen a dead one before. I scooped him up and held him in my hand for the longest time. I didn’t know what to do with him. I brought him inside and laid him on a table. Suddenly I realized – he looked like a “T”. I photographed him, uploaded into Photoshop and before I knew it I had made myself a logo!
I have much more to share about my dragonfly journey in blogs to come. It’s been a wonderful journey so far and I can’t wait to see where it takes me and my bags.
